PrePlatter ("we", "us", "our") operates the preplatter.in website and platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our campus food pre-ordering service.

By creating an account or placing an order on PrePlatter, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign up, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address (used for login and communication)
  • Phone number (optional, used for order-related communication)

2.2 Order & Transaction Data

When you place an order, we collect:

  • Items ordered, quantities, and pricing
  • Payment method selected (UPI, Card, or Wallet)
  • Transaction IDs and payment status
  • Order timestamps and status history
  • QR code data generated for order verification

2.3 Wallet Data

If you use the PrePlatter Wallet, we store your wallet balance and a history of all credits, debits, and top-ups.

2.4 Automatically Collected Data

  • Browser type, device information, and operating system
  • IP address (for security and rate limiting)
  • Pages visited and actions taken within the app

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To process and fulfill your food orders — your order details are shared with canteen kitchen staff to prepare your food.
  • To process payments — payment data is handled by Razorpay, our third-party payment gateway. We do not store your card numbers or UPI PINs.
  • To send you notifications — order confirmations, status updates, and account-related emails.
  • To improve the platform — anonymized analytics help us understand popular items and peak times.
  • For security — IP-based rate limiting, fraud detection, and session management.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We share limited data only with:

  • Razorpay — our payment gateway processes your payment securely. Their privacy policy applies to payment data they handle.
  • Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, which stores data in secure, encrypted databases.
  • Resend — our email service provider, used to send transactional emails (password resets, confirmations).
  • Canteen Staff — order details (items, quantity, parcel preference) are visible to kitchen staff to fulfill your order. They do not see your email, phone, or payment details.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure with:

  • Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
  • Hashed and salted passwords — we never store plain-text passwords
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) for admin and staff accounts

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data via your Profile page
  • Update your name, phone number, and profile information at any time
  • Delete your account — contact us at support@preplatter.in to request full account deletion
  • Export your order history upon request

7. Cookies & Local Storage

PrePlatter uses browser local storage and cookies strictly for:

  • Authentication session management (Supabase auth tokens)
  • Cart state persistence
  • Outlet selection preference

We do not use tracking cookies or any third-party advertising cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

PrePlatter is intended for use by college students (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18 years of age.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Refund & Cancellation Policy

PrePlatter operates a strict No Refund Policy. All orders placed on the platform are final and non-refundable.

  • Final Orders: Once an order is confirmed and payment is processed, it cannot be cancelled or refunded under any circumstances.
  • Pickup Responsibility: It is the user's responsibility to collect their order from the canteen. Items not collected due to user absence or delay will not be refunded.
  • Wallet Balance: Top-ups made to the PrePlatter Wallet are non-refundable and non-transferable. These funds can only be utilized for food purchases on our platform.
